Why Chinese Tea?
Tea originates from China, and it is only there one can find such a wide variety of tea types. Different provinces, even towns, or little villages produce their own kind of tea, which is indigenous to that place. They are completely unique and determined by the climate, terrain, and the local culture of that specific place.
This is why China is such an amazing place for tea! Such a huge country provides some truly magical teas for all tastes.

Teas ideal for your Shop
There is so much choice when it comes to Chinese tea. Some teas are vastly different, whilst some are very similar.
It can be hard to determine what teas are suitable for a tea shop. We have split our selections into 3 groups. We recommend you to choose a few teas from each group to give you a broad range for different types of people.
Flavoured Chinese Teas
Great for newcomers to Chinese tea & for those who like their tea infused with an added taste.

Ginseng Oolong
This lightly oxidised Oolong has been infused with ginseng. It starts off a bit bitter, then slowly this bitterness almost magically turns to sweetness and richness, finishing with a great aftertaste.
Jasmine Pearls
This Green tea has been beautifully rolled into spiral shaped balls, scented with jasmine flowers, giving a beautiful perfumed taste.
Milk Oolong
For those who like their milk tea with a Chinese twist. This Oolong has the base taste of an Oolong, however, the infused milk taste gives it a caramal taste and slightly sweet aftertaste.
Famous Chinese Teas
The most well-known and popular Chinese teas. A range of different tea types.
Silver Needle/Bai Hao Yin Zhen (White Tea)
is a very special White tea made from the silvery buds of the tea leaf. This tea has gone through no processing, only oxidisation, which gives this tea a very natural fresh taste, and a light sweet aftertaste.
*Silver needle can be kept for years, slowly oxidising to give it a more mature complex taste.
Dragon Well/Longjing (Green Tea)
One of the most famous and popular green teas. It has been lightly oxidised, retaining its natural taste of fresh tea leaves. It has hints of walnut and butter in taste, with a slightly sweet aftertaste.
Iron Buddha/ Iron Goddess of Mercy/ Tieguanyin (Oolong Tea)
is one of China’s most recognisable and famous teas. This Oolong tea is great for both newcomers and conoisseurs of Chinese tea. Its natural, clear, and almost buttery flavour leaves a delicate lingering aftertaste that isn’t too overpowering, but subtle enough to leave a pleasant sensation. Tie Guan Yin can be easily enjoyed as a refreshment, or even accompanied with food.
Da Hong Pao / Big Red Robe (Oolong Tea)
comes from China's revered Wuyi mountain, and is chief among Wuyi's rock teas, known for their unique rich mineral flavours that they acquire from growing on this rocky, barren terrain. Da Hong Pao has a complex taste of silky softness with richness and notes of caramel and fruit.
Lapsang Souchong (Red Tea)
the popularity of this tea is related to its very distinctive dark, smoky aroma, which often leads to comparisons with 'peaty' whiskies. Traditionally oxidised in small, dank sheds on the mountainside, the tea is then dried over an open pinewood fire, infusing it with a unique charred, earthy character.

Something Special
In this group we have added some other teas that are familiar to some, with some other not so well-known varieties. Add some spice and variation to your tea collection.
Tai Ping Hou Kui
Peacful Monkey Leader
(Green Tea)
This is a truely special tea, not only visually but its taste too. It is a very elite Chinese tea that has won several prizes in Chinese tea exhibitions. It has a complex deep taste, that is floral with hints of chocolate.

Dong Ding
Frosty Peak
(Oolong Tea)
is a Taiwanese tea. The mountains of the plantations are covered in snow all year round, filling the air with an icy coolness. It has a rich honey taste, with notes of walnut.
Mt. Meng Yellow Bud
(Yellow Tea)
Only perfectly shaped buds are chosen. As the tea comes from a cold mountainous terrain, the tea leaves are very small and thin. It has a rich aroma of fresh honey, with a light full taste and a sweet aftertaste.

Jin Jun Mei
Golden Eyebrows
(Red Tea)
is produced using only the most delicate buds from the tea bush. Its thin, twisted leaves are said to resemble the eyebrows of traditional Chinese beauties. It has a distinct sweet taste, with a hint of bitterness.
Mao Feng
Furry Peak
(Green Tea)
named as the leaves are covered in white downy hairs that resemble the tree covered peaks of Mt.Huang. It is light, with light apricot-peach notes that it may have absorbed from the wild fruit trees that grow in abundance in the mountains.

Gong Ting Puer 2005
Royal Palace Puer leaves
(Shu Puer Tea)
is processed in the classical way of Shu Puer but instead of being pressed into teacakes is left as dry leaves. This tea has a beautifully smooth body of taste, leaving a slightly sweet aftertaste.
